    GATE Exam 2024: Released Dates – Exam, Admit Card and Result

    GATE Exam 2024, conducted by IISc Bangalore is an annual national-level admission examination that offers admission to streams such as Master of Technology and PhD programs in reputed educational institutions. Aspiring candidates filled out the form and completed the details since the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) opened on 31st August 2023. 

    The GATE 2024 Admit card will be released by IISC Bangalore on January 3, 2024. The link to download the admit card for the GATE exam 2024 will be available at gate2024.iisc.ac.in. Applicants who completed the GATE registration before the deadline can access their GATE hall ticket online using the GATE 2024 login, which will need their enrollment ID and password. The admit card includes the GATE exam date 2024, time, candidate details, exam center address, and instructions. The candidates must carry the admit card to the exam center, without it, they will not be permitted to take the GATE 2024 exam.

    • Enter your enrollment number and password provided during registration. 
    • Click on GATE login.

    • Your GATE admit card will be downloaded in PDF format.

    Applicant’s Name – The names of the applicants will appear exactly as submitted in the application form.

    Guidelines for GATE 2024

    The candidates must abide by all the guidelines mentioned in the admit card. Some of the main instructions are: 

    1. The applicants must report to their respective examination centers 60 minutes before the beginning go the exam. A pre-visit to the center a day before is advised to prevent last-minute confusion. 
    • No entry to the examination center will be permitted after the time specified on the admit card elapses.
    • Applicants must carry a valid ID proof and admit card along with them for verification.
    • Applicants are not allowed to leave the examination center until the examination officially concludes.
    • Electronic devices, including mobile phones, and watches, are strictly prohibited inside the examination centers.
    • Virtual scientific calculators may be provided for calculations. Scribble pads are available for rough work.
    • The applicants are required to mention their name and registration number on the scribble pad before using it. The scribble pad must be returned to the invigilator at the end of the exam.

    To Retrieve Password

    • Click on “Request for OTP”.
    • An OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number.
    • After submitting the OTP, candidates can change their password.

    The Common Admission Test 2023 was conducted on November 26 in 167 cities throughout the nation. The candidates who appeared for the exam are anxiously waiting for the results. IIM will release the CAT result 2023 at its official website iimcat.ac.in. The release date for the result has not been released officially yet. The expected date of the CAT result date is the 2nd week of January 20024. The CAT result 2023 is subjected to a normalization process, that includes adjusting the marks of candidates who appeared in challenging sessions. Before the official declaration of the CAT result, the examination authority will release the CAT 2023 answer key, enabling applicants to review their performance. 

    Once the release of the CAT exam 2023 scorecard is, the applicants can download it from the IIMCAT website using their login ID and username. Additionally, they will also receive SMS and email notifications from the examination authorities regarding the availability of the CAT 2023 scorecard. The scorecard contains details such as registration number, candidate’s name, photograph, category, sectional scores, overall scores, sectional percentile, and overall percentile. Once the result is available on the website, an objection window will be opened by the authorities. During this period, the applicants have the opportunity to raise objections to the provisional CAT answer key.     What is the method to calculate the CAT exam result 2023 percentile?

    The CAT percentile includes three steps. A candidate is awarded three marks for each right answer and one mark is deducted for the wrong answer. For non-MCQ-type questions, no marks are deducted for inaccurate answers. 

    • Applicant’s scores are initially assessed on a section-by-section basis. The overall score is determined by summing up individual section scores. 
    • Both section-wise and overall scores undergo a normalization process to get a scaled CAT score.
    • The normalized scores are further converted into percentiles.

    Step 1: Identify the total number of applicants who participated in IIM CAT across all the shifts.

    Step 2: Assign rank = R, according to the scaled scores obtained by candidates in the VARC section. If two or more candidates attain similar scaled scores in the VARC section, assign them identical ranks. For example, if two candidates achieve the highest scaled CAT score in the VARC, both receive rank 1. The candidate with the second-highest scaled score in the VARC section is assigned rank 3.

    Step 3: Use the formula P = ((N – r) / N) * 100 to calculate the percentile score (P) of a candidate with rank (r) in the VARC section. 

    Step 4: Round off the calculated percentile score (P) to two decimal points. For example, percentiles equal to or greater than 99.995 are rounded off to 100, percentiles greater than or equal to 99.985 but less than 99.995 are rounded off to 99.99, and so forth.

    Factors such as mean score, lowest score, highest score, median score, top 10 percentiles, and lowest 10 percentiles are taken into consideration for CAT normalization.
