Document Requirements for JEE Advanced Registration 2024

Indian Institute of Technology Madras will begin the JEE Advanced registration 2024 on April 21, 2024. The registration link will be available on the official website. The aspiring candidates need to fill out the form online by entering registration details, uploading documents, and paying the registration amount. The eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced 2024 allow candidates who have exhibited good performance in JEE Main examination and are in the top 2,50,000 aspirants. Documents Requirements for JEE Advanced Registration 2024 (Category Wise)

The applicants need to scan the following documents and certificates and upload them during JEE advanced registration 2024. It is important to note that the document verification will take place during the JoSAA seat acceptance stage. Therefore, the students must upload the correct documents during registration.  

General Document Requirements for All Candidates

  • Class 10th certificate containing the date of birth OR birth certificate. 
  • Class 12th (or equivalent examination) certificate
  • For candidates who appeared first time for this examination in 2023 or 2024
  • For those whose Board declared Class 12th (or equivalent examination) result of academic session 2021-22 on or after September 21, 2022.
  • If available, the marksheet of Class 12th (or equivalent examination) for 2024 should also be uploaded. 
  • Gazette notification displaying name change, if candidate’s name differs from that of Class 10th certificate.

Document Requirements Category Wise

For Candidates applying under the GEN-EWS category

  • Ensure the GEN-EWS certificate (FORM-GEN-EWS) is issued on or after April 01, 2024, following the latest Government of India guidelines.
  • If you cannot submit the GEN-EWS certificate during online registration, upload a declaration specifying the reason instead. 

For Candidates applying under the OBC-NCL category

  • Ensure your OBC-NCL certificate (FORM-OBC-NCL) is issued on or after April 01, 2024, as per the latest guidelines of the Government of India.
  • If you cannot submit an OBC-NCL certificate during online registration, upload a declaration explaining the reason.

For Candidates applying for admission under the SC or ST category

  • For SC candidates, a Caste certificate, and for ST candidates, a Tribe certificate (FORM-SC/ST) is needed, as per the latest Government of India guidelines
  • If any SC/ST candidate cannot provide a respective certificate during online registration, they must upload a declaration explaining the situation. 

For Candidates applying under the PwD category

  • Candidates must submit a Physical Disability certificate, either (UDID) Certificate or FORM-PwD [II/III/IV, granted by the notified medical authority. 
  • Dyslexic candidates should submit FORM-DYSLEXIC-1 and FORMDYSLEXIC-2 instead of FORM-PwD.

Eligibility criteria for Jee Advance 2024

Performance in Jee Mains 2024

Candidates must rank among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (inclusive of all categories) in B.E./B.Tech. paper of JEE (Main) 2024.

The distribution of shortlisted candidates by category is as follows:

  • 10% for GEN-EWS
  • 27% for OBC-NCL
  • 15% for SC
  • 7.5% for ST
  • 40.5% is OPEN for all

Within each category, there is a 5% horizontal reservation for PwD candidates.

Age limit for JEE Advance 2024

Applicants must be born on or after 1 October, 1999. SC, ST, and PwD applicants are eligible for 5-year age relaxation, meaning their date of birth should be on or after October 1, 1994.

Appearance in 12th class examination

Applicants must have taken Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2023 or 2024 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.

Earlier admission at IIT’s 

Candidates who have previously been admitted to an IIT through JoSAA 2023, regardless of whether they continued or accepted a seat by reporting online at a reporting centre are not eligible for JEE Advanced 2024. Also, candidates whose admission to IITs was revoked post joining any IIT are ineligible to appear for JEE (Advanced) 2024.

However, candidates who enrolled in a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2023 can are eligible to take JEE (Advanced) 2024.  Also, candidates who were assigned a seat in an IIT through JoSAA 2023 but did not report online or at any reporting centre, withdrew before final round of seat allotment, or cancelled their seat are eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced) 2024.

To be eligible for the JEE Advanced, the aspirants must be among the top 2.5 lakh successful candidates. The previous criteria of being in the top 75 percent in the board exam or among op 20 percentile candidates in 12 exams have been withdrawn by NTA.
